Decide whether each subject deserves a page of its own

Three subjects at four levels could be one page or twelve. Both are defensible, and the wrong choice is a great deal of work.

A teaching practice is small, but its offer has more combinations than most businesses ten times the size: subject, level, age and format multiply quickly.

The page-list decision is therefore the main structural question, and it is worth taking deliberately rather than one page at a time as enquiries arrive.

When a separate page earns itself

Four tests. Two or more, and the page is probably worth writing.

  • People look for it by name

A subject somebody types on its own deserves somewhere of its own to land.

  • You teach it differently

If the approach, the materials or the shape of a session genuinely differ, one page cannot describe both.

  • The reader is different

An adult learner and the parent of a nine-year-old are not the same visitor, whatever the subject.

  • You have enough to say

Three hundred words you actually mean beats a page padded out to look substantial.

What a subject page has to contain

The exact levels and stages

Named as they are named where you teach, since that is how they get searched for.

What a session in that subject looks like

Concretely — what is done, what is set, how progress becomes visible.

Who it suits, and who it does not

The second half saves considerably more time than the first.

The same short way to get in touch

Repeated on every subject page rather than sending people back to a contact page.

When one page is the right answer

A practice with one subject, or with subjects genuinely taught the same way, is better served by one clear page than by three that hedge. Splitting for its own sake produces pages that repeat each other, which is visible and unhelpful.

It is also entirely reasonable to start with one and split it when a subject grows. That is a smaller job than merging pages which should never have been separate.
